When one way genuinely means one movement

The one-way rate is the right answer more often than clients expect, and less often than they hope. It fits a day with a single decisive moment: an arrival at I Gusti Ngurah Rai where the principal goes to the hotel and stays there; a run from Sanur to a notary in Denpasar with the return left open.

The honest test is not distance. It is whether the day has one pressure point or several. An arrival into DPS with a signing at 10:00 is one pressure point — everything before it is standing at the kerb watching an inbound flight, and everything after it belongs to somebody else’s schedule. Take the bundle when the principal’s own transport is a hotel car whose driver has never worked in a convoy — the gap that opens between an unfamiliar driver and the escort ahead is the most common reason a movement loses its shape. Take it when the party lands from long-haul with luggage and needs the vehicle standing where we said it would stand, not circling. What the published rate covers, and what it does not

The escort itself is a police function, carried out by specially assigned traffic-police personnel. Priority on the road is exercised only after permission has been obtained from the police — that is the plain reading of Article 135 of Law No. 22 of 2009, and Article 134 sets out the order of priority within which the assessment sits. A single arrival looks like a one-way movement until the inbound slips and the appointment behind it starts moving too. If the schedule behind the arrival is tight and immovable, the full-day rate is worth the difference: it converts a fixed leg into a held window, and a held window absorbs delay that a one-way booking cannot.

Assistants often book before the day is settled. If venues or timings are still moving a week out, price the full day: adding a second one-way movement later costs more, and means a second application rather than one.

The evening that runs long

Twelve hours is generous for a conference day and thin for a wedding that starts at four. Count from the first movement, not from breakfast, and tell us the expected finish honestly. We would rather quote extended hours in advance than discover them at midnight.

The most useful brief is not “we need a full day”. It is the movements: where the party lands, what time the first fixed commitment falls, which venues follow, how many vehicles, and when the day genuinely ends.
